the client

Althorp House in Northamptonshire was built in 1508 and has been the family seat of the Spencer Family for 19 generations. With a rich history of entertaining, the 90-room house and its impressive 13,000-acre estate is now home to various prestigious hospitality events and weddings.

the brief

may has worked with Althorp to raise awareness of a number of high-profile events, including its award-winning food festivals, literary festival, house opening, various exhibitions and press events.

The events featured world-renown chefs, including Jean Christophe Novelli and Ken Hom as well as some of the UK’s most talented authors and speakers; Prue Leith, Dan Jones and Julian Fellowes to name a few.

may’s expertise was needed for the events’ print and digital publicity, plus a range of custom marketing materials and an overarching strategy that ultimately encouraged ticket sales.

the result

may employed a comprehensive PR strategy across all events to drive ticket sales, targeting both regional and national titles.

Althorp’s food festivals achieved record footfall and coverage, providing significant ROI on our services. Coverage included multi-page feature articles, competition partnerships, interviews and profile pieces with some of the headline chefs.

We also supported Althorp's creative needs, developing high-quality programmes, adverts, posters and signage to support the events, with recommendations and support to cross-pollinate messages to a number of their other digital channels.

may have built a really strong relationship with both the brand and the team here at Althorp. They’re committed to doing the best possible job for us and their support has been invaluable, demonstrating extensive knowledge and experience in all areas of marketing. This has led to unprecedented results for our high-profile food and literature festivals.
